ok, so i've heard that 1911 pistols are well designed, some say the best design ever, but i've also heard about jams and guns not working etc. . . i'm considering getting one some time in the future, when i can save up for one. i know there are some cheap ones out there , and some really expensive ones. i would be doing concealed carry with it, and am thinking of a 4 inch barrel. (my four inch sig 229 is a great size for me) my question is this, can i get a 1911 that is as...

i'm just asking y'all's opinion about kahr guns, the mk9, pm9, and k9 all look intriguing to me. How do they shoot? do they last? etc. . .

We closed the previous thread as I was shifting from alternating ammo in my gun to a different vein. Presuming a proper barrel, etc, why DID the 9x23 and 38 Super become obscure? This is separate from the previous thread, and an honest question. The 45 ACP is a wonderful round, and it does what it does superbly. But basing your handgun(s) from the 1911 platform, there are superior HUNTING rounds that can be run through that platform. I don't care so much about more round capacity, or...

Had the wife's P6 out at my father inlaw's this past weekend and got to shoot it. What a great little 9mm. I didn't pace it off but at a decent distance that little baby made one ragged hole. Tons of fun to shoot too.

Can they take it?

I carry a G26(Baby glock in 9mm) loaded with Winchester Ranger +p+. I've put maybe 50 rounds through it to make sure it functioned properly... but how much can the gun take of it?

Decided to try the 9x23 in my Full size Witness a few years back. Dimensionally similar, 9x23 hotter, no rim. Fed better, didn't extract as well, stayed with Super in the Witness(can't go wrong with CorBon). Polished the feed ramp, voila'. Sold the Witness to a cop friend on flight who had tried all my pistols and really liked it, so was in the market for a 1911 in Super. Decided to try the 23 in IT, and it is flawless. Well, I've had a SAM Commodore for a while now. I've shot it a lot, and have zero complaints. At the price, I figured I'd give it a try just to see, and was very pleasantly rewarded. Now I've sold my full size Witness to a friend, since he liked it a whole bunch, and have replaced it with an RIA 1911 in .38 Super. That thing is excellent! Accurate and totally reliable. Any other wonderful surprises out there to comment on from anyone else?
