Owning an NFA item without the approved Form 4 and Tax Stamp is a violation of Federal law. The National Firearms Act of 1934 instituted these regulations and
they were adopted into the Gun Control Act of 1968. Plenaties for violating the GCA of 68 can be a $250,000 fine, 10 years in prison, or both.

In order to buy an NFA item you must do a few very simple things.

1) Verify that NFA ownership is approved in your state.

3) Buy it and do the paperwork. Your dealer should help you with your paperwork.
4) Take the paperwork to your local Chief Law Enforcement Officer and have him sign the approval.
5) Send it off to the ATF.
